I am moving to the US next month and am wondering which network carrier
to use. I want to be able to basically change my phone when I want.
This pretty much eliminates Verizon as they don't have SIM cards to
easily change.
My question is does this carrier use SIM cards and if so is it easy to
change phone or does it use an unusual frequency like the 850/1900 used
by Cingular which makes it harder to change phones?
Many thanks.

Sprint is CDMA, not GSM, so, no SIM cards are put in Sprint phones. Sprint
does have some kind of world phone that runs both GSM and CDMA, but I am
under the impression that it does not run GSM here in the US and it is
expected to be a locked phone, meaning a foreign SIM or SIM for anothe
carrier may not work in it.
Cingular and T- Mobile are GSM, and yes they run on 850/1900, not 900/1800,
so a foreign phone running 900/1800 won't work here.
I have a second quad band GSM phone for international travel myself, and
have thought about switching to Cingular so I could use just one phone
anywhere. Unfortunately, for coverage here, you really need a CDMA with the
ability to roam on analog, there are alot of places still where digital
alone, including GSM just won't work.
Also, depending on how much you like WAP and internet services, GSM tends
to be more expensive. Sprint has an inexpensive all you can eat rate plan,
whereas with Cingular you buy by the kilobyte.
Wish you the best of luck and hope for a good adjustment in your relocation.
