My experience has been that messages sent from
http://messaging.sprintpcs.com are free. Now I am seeing these show up in
the usage data as "casual sms text messaging". Does anyone know if sprint
will now be charging for these messages?

It's 10c/msg to send or receive unless you have a messaging package.

It has been my experience that text messages sent to a PCS phone from the
Sprint website - not from another phone - were not counted toward text
    message usage. Has thsi changed?

I would have to assume that it now has. Probably a loophole they
decided to close with the redesign of the website.
