    I have a Samsung SPH A 460
    Anyone know why the little
"you have messages " symbol stays on?

I cleared out all the messages,
pulled the battery for a short time,
it just stays on the screen.
It has been on for weeks.

Any advice or tricks will be appreciated.

    Thanks - Steve

Might be that you have an unread text message or a short mail notification.

This occasionally happens to me (Sanyo phones), most often with voice
mail messages. I've always been able to clear the indicator flag by
leaving myself a message. I then connect to the VM system and listen to
the message *completely* and then press 7 to delete it (and for good
measure I wait a few seconds before hanging up).

Text messages, IIRC, may have required several messages--which need to
be read--in order to clear the flag.

This assumes, of course, that you don't have ANY unread text messages or
    un-listened-to VM messages.

Make sure it is not a text message or numeric page.

Also hang up by pressing the (star) key, not the (end) key..
