Sprint Launches Power Network Coverage Tool Making It Easier for
Customers to Check Network Coverage
New Interactive Maps Give Customers the Power to Ensure Network Coverage
Exists Where They Live, Work and Travel
RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As part of its ongoing effort to put the
power of its networks in the hands of customers, Sprint (NYSE:S) today
announces the launch of its Power Network Coverage Tool that will enable
customers to access detailed coverage maps which zoom down to the street
address level and display network signal strength.
By entering an address or zip code, the maps will offer customers the
ability to view the availability of wireless coverage on both the Nextel
National NetworkSM and the Nationwide Sprint PCS NetworkSM, along with
signal strength information. Customers will also be able to check the
availability of Sprints high-speed Power VisionSM data service. Sprint
leads the wireless industry in data adoption, operates the largest
mobile broadband network, and now is the first wireless carrier to show
street-level coverage for EV-DO services. Another bonus of the tool is
that customers can also view the location of recently added cell sites
in many areas.
Sprint is committed to improving customer satisfaction and with the
Power Network Coverage Tool we are now able to tell customers what the
quality of the network is based on where they live and work, said Tim
Kelly, president of customer management for Sprint. We have heard our
customers, and the launch of this tool represents a significant change
to how we sell our service and another dramatic step in educating our
customers on the service quality of our network.
Available to customers both online at www.sprint.com/coverage and at
self-service touch-screen kiosks at approximately 800 Sprint retail
stores, the interactive Power Network Coverage Tool will be simple to
use and help set network coverage expectations for customers before they
actually sign up for wireless service. By demonstrating coverage of
multiple networks, customers can also better determine which network
best suits their needs.
Sprint expects its mapping tool will give customers the opportunity to
enjoy great value and unmatched wireless capabilities on any of its
powerful networks. And, the new tool will help to ensure customers have
all of the facts upfront about the strength of the network before
choosing a wireless carrier, helping to build trust between Sprint and
the customer at the onset.
Shortly after launch, Sprint plans to introduce several industry-first
features that will provide customers visibility into where Sprint plans
on further enhancing coverage. As part of these enhancements customers
will be able to view future cell site locations within 60 days of
planned build out. Later this year when Sprint rolls out its upgraded
EV-DO Revision A mobile broadband network, which provides more capacity
and faster data rate speeds, customers will be able to view EV-DO
Revision A coverage on the Power Network Coverage Tool as well.
This is a service were proud to begin offering our customers, said
Kelly. Its important to Sprint that our customers not only continue to
have the highest quality network, but the satisfaction of knowing we put
the power of Sprint service in their hands.
