I searched this group for discussions about the fees, but couldn't find
anything. I thought I remembered some discussion a while back, but
apparently didn't have the right subject.
Anyway, just got off a live chat with Sprint, and asked them if they had
started the practice that some other carriers have, that of pro-rating
early termination fees. Her answer: No, they haven't. Fee is still
$200 per account--if you have family plan, it's a flat $200; NOT a fee
per phone.

That information is not correct. The early termination fee is per
line that is still under contract. If you have a family plan, and
only one of the lines is still under contract, THEN it would only be
$200 for you to cancel the whole shabang. However, if say you had 4
lines of service on that plan, and 3 are still under contract, it
would be $600 dollars for the early termination fee if all the lines
were terminated. Sorry if you had gotten your hopes up over what you
had understood from the chat persons.
In regard to pro-rating, once this does go into effect, it would apply
only to lines of service that were opened after that date the policy
goes into effect. Any that were started prior to that date would
still be charged the entire EFT if terminated before the end of their
agreement.
I hope that clears things up a bit.

You were giving incorrect information by the Sprint rep (imagine THAT!)
If you have a two year old family plan and added a new member to it last
month, then that member will still be under contract for two more years.

They nailed me for $200 per phone on a family plan.
