I only tested it in town and around yesterday for about an hour, it held
fine as long as the signal strength was at least 2 bars. Once signal got
down to 1 bar it would cut out. It would work with 1 bar, but
intermittently. However, I will say, that unlike the phone, which when it
cut out would have to have the connection restarted, the connection would
restore without my intervention once signal got back up to 2 bars.
I am going on a major road trip here up the eastern seaboard, will let you
know how it does.

With my Sanyo 6400 I very seldom have the laptop connection "freeze"
so that I need to redial. FTP throughput is anywhere from 59kpbs to 84
kpbs. I've even used to for a 90 minute uninterrupted data call while
my wife was driving at freeway speeds all the while, using SSH tunnels
to telnet/e-mail/read Usenet.
The 6400 has an obscure firmware bug in that it will drop any
connection, voice or data, when it crosses an SID boundary (43 to 41
in an isolated pocket, here).
