Until number portability goes into effect, you can check the area code
and prefix at http://www.primeris.com/fonefind/

What I do if I am curious... I wait until my night and weekend minutes
kick in and I call my voicemail. Option 2 is send a message... it will
prompt you for the phone number of the PCS voice mailbox... if the phone
# you are entering is not a PCS phone, the system will say "Sorry, that
is an invalid number." If it is a PCS phone number, the system will
repeat the number back to you (if the person does not have a recorded
name) or play the person's name for you.
Hope this helps.

Except that Virgin Mobile phone numbers will be listed as Sprint
Spectrum's but calls to those numbers are not counted against your
PCS2PCS minutes. How can one find out if the number is SPCS's or Virgin's?

Re: How to check if you're calling another PCS number?
Try sending a msg via http://www.myphonefiles.com/main.php3
, 'express-sms one-way msg' in the left frame. After you send a
message this way a popup tells you what service the target has.
Will be interested to hear if it shows SPCS or Virgin.
