    Hi Folks,
I'm considering the very expensive Samsung i500. One thing I want to be
able to do on rare occasions is use the phone to act as an external modem
for my laptop. This would only be an occasional usage with small data
quantity. I know Sprint doesn't want the phone used this way, but I wonder
if it can be done. It would be an emergency contingency for me.
    Thanks,
    Bill

Re: Samsung i500 for Wireless Modem ?

I just bought the i500 and it is great. However, I discovered that
Sprint does not support its use as a wireless modem. The tech told me
that "it was a business decision to not support it as a wireless modem
because they want to push the PC cards for this purpose". That
sucks!! He also said that there are people that have figured out how
to configure it as a wireless modem. Does anyone know anything?
Please point me in the right direction?

It can be done with a data cable and available software, but you're
asking for trouble and a GIANT bill if Sprint catches you.

I am OK with the risk of getting caught by Sprint. Do you know where
to buy the data cable and software?
