9/30: T608 Awareness Day

From www.sprintpcsinfo.com:

I have officially had it with Sprint's lack of information in reguards
to the T608. So I'm going to do something about it. On Tuesday,
September 30, I want you to help me out in sending Sprint a message
that we want to know when the T608 will be released.

I want you to call every call center, email everyone at Sprint I can
dig up an email for, and call your local store. I'll have the numbers,
emails and how you can help up either on the 30th or shortly before.

And to everyone that says it's wrong to flood Sprint like this, I say
to them that WE are the customers, WE were told officially that this
phone would be sold, and WE deserve a reasonable answer to the status
of this phone.

And what do I ask? I ask that someone at Sprint that is INVOLVED with
the launch of this phone contact me. I am sick and tired of dealing
with robotic-like PR reps and clueless countless others.

I never remeber it being OFFICIAL.

Is Sony/Ericsson Is no longer producing handset, then It may not come out..
Remember that news release was made after the introduction of the phone, so
it MAY NOT come out. I mean hell its a crappy looking phone anyways, and all
it has is bluetooth.. big deal.. bluetooth apps are expensive anyways. Get a
life.

I have had it with people dedicating their existance to a handset that was
DOA.

What I can't figure out is why would you want a phone that is:

1. A first-generation bluetooth / CDMA handset

2. is a first-generation handset that has been released by division of
SE that *no longer exists.*

and 3. since said division no longer exists, who is going to write, test and
support future versions of this phone's software to fix problems and
bugs that it will inevitably have upon its release?

furthermore:

4. It's ugly
5. SE's are known for lousy RF performance

Geezus. Use an adapter for another 3 to 6 months until Samsung or whoever
releases a bluetooth handset that will actually be supported.

You might want to consider selling your "Denso Lives" t-shirt at the thrift
store, too... Live in the Now, man!!

I'm not. However Sprint announced the product, and if it is dead they
should officially own up to it.

That said, I don't believe it's dead at all, I have spoken to
businesses that have T608s but can't sell them yet because Sprint
hasn't approved the firmware.

1) I have no clue where you get that it is dead.

2) The phone was finished before the CDMA division was closed. SE has
said that the closing will not effect the T608.

3) The GSM division can easily patch the code for the phone as it has
the same code base as the T68i and T610.

4) Your opinion

5) Early reviews show this phone to have excellent RF.

What I've learned from *all* carriers is that you'll only know if a
phone's going to be released when you actually see it on the shelf.

Everything else is nothing but speculation.

I was referring to speculation on the part of the public.

You can talk about release dates all you want.

Until the phones on the shelf, that's all it is... Talk.

It's official. Sprint approved the T608 today. It passed all tests and
should be sold within a month. I emphasize should, sometimes stuff
happens. It will only be sold online and at Ford dealerships.

and its made by Sony, hopefully they improved BIG TIME on their phones,
the 1101, 1201 and Z100 were not too durable.

(The only phones that performed worse than Sony in our 'drop tests' were
Kyocera and LG).
