    I have a Treo 300 and am interested in whether they've fixed/improved
either of the following in the Treo 600.

First the web browser. Is it still Blazer 2.0 or whatever the Treo 300
uses? Any improvements (javascript support, better performance, etc.)?

The most irritating problem with The Treo 300, which has me willing to
try the 600 almost sight unseen, is the irritating (and unstoppble)
SMS spam deliery system which guarantees that everytime I get a phone
call there is a spam message on the screen which prevents access to
the features of the phone application until you click your way out of
the SMS application. This means that the volume control does not
work and is otherwise annoying. Of course Sprint says it's impossible
for them to turn of my email address without cancelling Vision entirely.

So, since the 600 has "real" SMS support, is there any better control
over being able to disable SMS, or control the message devivery modes,
    etc.?

The Treo 600 claims to come with a case of some kind. How is it? I
prefer some sort of a "holster" case that I can pull the phone out of
to use it rather than the glove-leather wraparound abomanations.

    Thanks for any info.

Still 160 x 160 resolution which limits what a browser can do.

Blazer 3.0 is supposed to be a huge improvement. It's supposed to be
    proxyless, faster, and supports javascript.

The Treo 600 has SMS support, but it won't do any good until Sprint
actually offers it. Until then, we have to wait for PDAapps to release
Treo600SMS so we can use Short Mail.

Not sure on your question - but - I simply love mine. I had the i-500,
but as soon as I saw the treo 600 at the store, that was it. The camera
is not all that - you have to be in sunlight - but it is still nice.
For me the ablitity to check my wells fargo account and also copy and
paste from websites is what won me over. The reception seems to be just
    has good as my i-500.

Re: A couple Treo 600 questions

Answering my own questions having gotten a 600 now:
    > I have a Treo 300 and am interested in whether they've fixed/improved
    > either of the following in the Treo 600.

    > First the web browser. Is it still Blazer 2.0 or whatever the Treo 300

The browser on the Treo 600 is much improved. Web browsing on the
Treo 300 is usually very painful, as the download speed and the html
rendering are agonizingly slow. The Treo 600 downloads at least
twice as fast I would say, and the rendering is pretty zippy. You
can actually scroll down through a page without having to wait several
seconds for each screen full of data.

You can display web pages either in "optimized" form where they are
squeezed into the width of the Treo screen, or you can display them
in "wide" mode where they are formatted for a normal (640 pixel maybe?)
wide screen, but you have to scroll both up/down and left/right to
view the whole page. A very nice option to have.

The new browser supports Javascript and pretty much everything else
except Java and plugins (no flash, etc.) so so it works fine with
secure web sites that use Javascript-based login screens, etc.

Overall, the performance of the Treo 600 feels very zippy (i.e. at
least twice as fast) as the 300, and you really no longer have to
    wait for anything.

    > So, since the 600 has "real" SMS support, is there any better control
    > over being able to disable SMS, or control the message devivery modes,
    > etc.?

I still get spam, and the SMS alert still pops up on top of whatever
I'm using, but it's easier to get past and you have slightly more
    options for managing alerts.

    > The Treo 600 claims to come with a case of some kind. How is it?

    The Treo 600 comes with a sleve-type slip-in case that's quite nice
but has absolutely no belt-clip of any kind, so it's only useful if
you're going to carry the phone around in a purse or something.

A tip is that the Treo 600 is almost exactly the same width and
height (without the antenna) as an Apple iPod, and the case that
comes with an iPod is basically identical to the slip-case that
comes with the Treo 600 except that it has a very nice belt clip
attached. The recent iPods are a bit thinner than the Treo, but
even the current iPod case ($39 from Apple) will work with the
Treo 600, though it's a bit of a tight fit. If you can find one
of the older cases for the 2nd generation iPods then it might
    be a perfect fit.

As expected, the camera is practically useless, taking blurry
pictures under most conditions, and it's hard to tell what the
picture quality is from the phone itself. The picture mail service
is kind of cute, being able to snap a picture and immediately
    email it to someone.

The speaker on the Treo 600 seems a lot louder than the Treo 300
was, and the ringer volume can be cranked up to truly painful
levels. This was a major problem on the 300 where the ringer
was often not loud enough to hear over the noise in a car, etc.

So, overall, the Treo 600 is 100% better than the Treo 300 in my
opinion and it makes things like wireless web-browsing really
practical where the 300 only made them "possible".
