Is it possible to have more than one phone with the same number? for example
a Blackberry during the week and a smaller Samsung A500 on weekends. If it
is a possiblity, how would one go about switching back and forth?

I have a GSM Treo 650 and a GSM Moto MPX220. For different purposes, I
simply swap out the sim card....different phones-same number.

There used to be companies, back in the old analog-only days,
    that could do it.

I'm not sure if it's even possible with digital.

Bell??? Bell who??? None of the "Bell" companies use CDMA. Even at that
there are only to Bell companies in the cellular business, SBC and Bell
South and their cellular system is one - Cingular.

As for what you are asking, no there is no way.

The world does not end at the US border, there is a BIG country to the north
that has a carrier called BELL and it's CDMA.

    Qwest isn't a Bell company.

Actually, Verizon is made up of the former GTE and others which were LEC's
along the way. What was Bell Atlantic isn't a part of Verizon. If I remember
correctly it was bought up by what is now SBC.

    I concede to Canada, however.

As I was reminded in the message just before this one.

    You don't remember correctly.

Bell Atlantic + GTE = Verizon

Bell Atlantic Mobile + most of GTE Wireless + most of Vodafone AirTouch +
Primeco = original Verizon Wireless (I say most because some markets had to
    be divested)

SBC Ameritech Cellular + SBC PacBell Mobility + SBC Southwestern Bell
Mobility + SBC CellularONE + BellSouth Mobility + BellSouth DCS = original
Cingular (SBC sold the C1 brand to Western Wireless which is now part of
Alltel, and rebranded all the C1 stores they owned)

I might have missed one or two components of Cingular but that *should* be
all of them. Did Southern New England Telephone (now part of SBC) ever do
    cellular?

Where does AirTouch Cellular, becoming Verizon, fit in?

Vodafone AirTouch. Vodafone had already purchased AirTouch by the time of
the VZ megamerger. I did include them.
