And here is a comment at suncomsucks.us:

SunCom sucks so bad! I was an AT&T customer and never had any problems
with them. Now my service has been acquired by SunCom and it is pure
hell. I've lost service and when I do have service the reception is
crap. They had my first name incorrect in their system (even though it
had been correct with AT&T) and wouldn't even let me access my
account information over the phone. I had to visit their store on
multiple occasions (which is about 20 miles away) to resolve this issue
and then to get my phone unlocked. I've had to spend numerous hours
on the phone to their customer [lack of] service people. Now, I'm
encountering billing issues. That's the final straw for me. I wish I
would have done it before all this crap, but I was enticed by
SunCom's plans with all taxes included in the price. I'm definitely
switching carriers now. And if I ever hear Harry Connick Jr's voice
again it will be too soon.

I don't understand small cellular (regional or local) companies in general.
They all have to roam on other networks, which economically puts them at a
    distinct disadvantage.

Suncom is mostly TDMA, and TDMA is going away.

What is going to happen to small, regional, or local TDMA networks in the
future? They can't switch to CDMA or GSM, because that technology is
already covered. The future for them looks bleak.
