Question: The first page of the thread says it mustn't be a link from a forum, but I run a large site on my own domain (paid hosting) and the biggest part of that site is the forum, so that's the area where people are most likely to see the referral link. Can I link from there, given that I own the site, own the domain, and pay for the hosting? Or are links from forums just not allowed at all?

Well, yeh. It's your own site. When I said forum, I meant a member of a forum just posting a link in a thread.
