Settings / Messages / Show Preview to OFF

You should try MCleaner. It can not only hide the sms Preview but also block the unwanted calls and messages.

Problem with the show preview is that it requires a passcode, and it will still send you directly to the SMS if you were in convo when your phone went into standby mode.

Oh well, still works 80% of the time.
