The Apple iPhone has created a new generation of modern phones. But is it the first one to ever have launched the first touch screen phone? I was just wondering if they are the first one to open the generation of touch screen phones. What do you think?

I guess Apple created the first smart phone in history. It may not be the first one to launch the touch screen phones but they opened the heights for new technology.

I don't think that iPhone was the first phone released in the mobile phone industry that has a touch screen feature. I'm not really sure what's the brand of the first company ever released that kind of feature. But I'm pretty sure that it isn't iPhone.

Re: Apple iPhone: First touch screen phone?
Apple wasn't the first with a touch screen phone. Apple was the first with a touch screen phone done correctly. There's more to a touch screen than simple touch. Years of research went into developing the software to 'read' the gestures being swiped across the surface of the glass, developing the right mix of cost/performance, and putting that entire "input system" into effect as a means of controlling an operating system. Other systems, most of which required a stylus (which would ultimately break or get lost) used touch screen technology, but the magic of touch screens isn't the touch, it's the software that reads the touch and acts upon it logically and gracefully.
