Re: damaged iphone
How long ago did you dunk it? Clean water, or something else (soapy, etc.)?
If it was just a cl;ean water dunk, you may have success by opening it up and drying it in front of a fan in a warm (not hot) location for a few days. Biggest problem that springs to my mind is that the iPhone battery is hardwired in. Normally, I'd say remove the battery as step one, to prevent electrolytic corrosion.Last edited by Uncle Wulf; 03-24-2010 at 04:07 AM. Reason: spelling...

Re: damaged iphone
Those are all good ways mentioned above also you can try to clean off any residue left by the water with some rubbing alcohol. Just make sure nothing is turned on before you get the whole phone apart you can burn all the circuits because of the corrosion or existing water if it was recent.

Re: damaged iphone
For any electronics that has drank a significant of water, soda, or toilet water, the best thing is to remove the battery (or turn the thing off completely the best you can if you can't take out the batter), rinse it off with alcohol or de-ionized water (they sell this in the store), and stick the said electronics into a dishwasher and put it on the "dry" or "plate warmer" setting. This will slowly get the moisture out. Then let it rest for a while to let the moisture escape the best it can. Then repeat until you feel lucky and courageous enough to try and turn it back on.

No!!!!!!!
That's too much heat, in most cases. Dishwashers vary widely as to temperature controls. You could cook the electronics outright, or hasten corrosion damage due to the elevated temperature. A warm place (85-90 degrees F) and airflow is what's needed. The warmth causes the water to evaporate. The airflow carries it away.
