My contract with T-Mobile is up soon and I'd like to switch to AT&T's GoPhone Pay As You Go plan. I am traveling to Australia soon (for a month) and I've read that you can just buy a prepaid SIM card there and put it in your phone.
What are my options here? Would an AT&T-branded GoPhone be able to use an Aussie SIM card? Since the GoPhones look cheap I don't mind finding a better unlocked phone if I need to.
Thanks - Kevin

You would definitely be better of getting an unlocked phone, whether it be AT&T or T-Mobile. GoPhones are designed to work in the U.S. and in Mexico and that's it.

You can go to Cell phone reviews, news and specs - Phone Arena
You can check out phones, read reviews, see if they are indeed quad-band phones and will work wherever you need them to etc etc. I absolutely love it. I'd recommend possibly going to eBay for a phone then checking it out on the site.

Thank you much alana. That site is indeed awesome.
I found this one I really like, the Nokia 3120 Classic. Does anyone know if this will work with AT&T GoPhone plans? It seems like it's only sold in Europe/Australia so I'm not sure about it's US compatibility but the Quad-Band means it'll work, right?
Thanks - Kevin
