A research study of 50 Qantas Frequent Flyer customers has revealed that
over 90% had heard of the new Apple 3G iPhone. More than 75% said that they
would consider buying a new 3G iPhone however the bulk of those surveyed
said that they would not buy a new phone if it meant taking out a new
contract with either Vodafone or Optus.

More than 50% of those surveyed had phones connected to the Telstra Next G
Network. Of these travellers 92% said that they would not buy an iPhone if
it meant moving from the Telstra Next G network. Surprisingly over 8% of the
audience already had an iPhone as well as another Smartphone.

The majority of those surveyed already owned either a Blackberry, Samsung,
Motorola Q or Nokia smart phone. A key reason to buy the 3G IPhone appeared
to be price, the inclusion of GPS and Google Maps. However the most
important factor appears to be easier messaging and email connectivity.

The survey was conducted in a Qantas Lounge.

Great sample for your survey ****wit. I could have gotten a better sample at
    any street corner.

Would be more of a surprise if they hadn't.

They surveyed 50 people! What a joke.

I'd want to see a survey of 500 people before I took the results seriously.

They didn't even try. What was it? A lunch time project?

The technical term for that is 'pathetically inadequate sample'

    > has revealed that over 90% had heard of the new Apple 3G iPhone.

Likely because it was mentioned in some Qantas article etc.

    > More than 75% said that they would consider buying a new 3G iPhone

    Well whoopy ****ing do.

Then Telstra is stupid for not having it available.

Nothing surprising about that, its easier for them to do than many others.

    > The majority of those surveyed already owned either a Blackberry, Samsung, Motorola Q or Nokia smart phone. A key

And it remains to be seen what the real price actually is.

Given that it doesnt have any physical keyboard at all, they obviously dont have a clue.

    > The survey was conducted in a Qantas Lounge.

Well whoopy ****ing do. Most of those wankers likely
claimed they had heard of the iphone 3G even if they hadnt.

And no doubt future upgrades to Crackberries, etc will give them what
they want in a much better format as well?

Yes, big egg on Parkybot face. Tel$tra misses out on biggest selling
    'phone.

How Tel$tra would have loved to crow over others if they had it!

Seems Tel$tra wanted to change the interface and add Sensis, which
    Apple would not allow.

IMO this 'phone may have some technical wizardry which no doubt will
please the punters, and I am sure Tel$tra will bag it if they can.

Myself - Palm Centro does it for me (then I am easily pleased!).

Telstra has made a commercial decision to not sell the iPhone on July 11.
That is all you need to know - Telstra wish to improve the standard Apple
offering by including whereis and other fantastic features that enrich the
    user experience.

And Apple has enough of a clue to tell Telstra to go and **** itself, again.

That's typical Telstra arrogance. That, and pricing policy,
alienates so many potentially good customers.

Correct. Because of the pricing policy they lost an $8,000-00 pcm
account from where I work - small beer to Tel$tra no doubt, but it all
    adds up.

You will be back once you discover the woeful service from un-Australian
    providers.
