    What eventually happened to these?

Did AGL/Optus disconnect them, or were the services taken over by another
    reseller or carrier?

    They stopped working.

Yep, and not only that, they paid the accumulated
credits from the signup bonuses in cash too, even
when that amounted to hundreds of bucks.

    Amazing.

    > or were the services taken over by another reseller or carrier?

Nope, they eventually pulled the plug.

    Not 100% correct.
    I am still using mine.
When DB went down, a company called RSL took over.
    Eventually, Simplus took responsibility.
    Simplus is an Optus subsidiary.

There was no hiatus. My service has been continuous.

    Fraid so.

    > I am still using mine.

    Nope.

    > When DB went down, a company called RSL took over.

Nope, you had the opportunity to move to RSL if you wanted to,
but that wasnt automatic and you had to sign up for the move.

No it wasnt in the sense that if you did nothing, you would have lost service.

    All true.
But the SIM didn't, simply, "stop working" as you said..
The billing companies changed. SIM was still valid if the holder
    wanted it to be.

And, YES....I am still using the SIM supplied by DB.
    Same network.
    Same number.
    Not a second's gap.

The bit where you were not 100% correct was where you told the
enquirer the services were not taken over by another company.
After all, that was the nub of his enquiry.
    Glad you have corrected that.
You don't do that a lot.

Yes it did if you didnt sign up for a DIFFERENT plan, most obviously with a monthly fee.

    > The billing companies changed. SIM was still valid if the holder wanted it to be.

But it wasnt the original plan on the no monthly fee and the call charges.

Nope, that was 100% correct, they werent taken over, there was an
OFFER for those who wanted to move on to a different company.

Just like what happened when other mobile telcos went bust.

    > After all, that was the nub of his enquiry.

    Nope.

    > Glad you have corrected that.

    I didnt correct anything.

    > You don't do that a lot.

Wrong again, I often call them brain farts when I do that and even you can find plenty using groups google.
