Hello everyone i am new to cell phone forums so if this is a dumb question then i apologize in advanced.

Ok last week i bought a Nokia E71 from ebay and i fix the broken screen and found out it was locked to three. so i went in and tried to get the phone unlocked when doing so i found out it has been reported lost/ stolen, Now the big problem is i want to buy another phone but i am not sure about getting it off ebay because i found out that you can check if a phone is stolen by the imei number via this web site AMTA (Australian Mobile Telecommunication Association) but i thought well i will check it out so i put the stole phones imei into the data base and it came up not stole?????? So what is the point if this web site doesn't even have an up to date data base.

Part two of this question, my friend said that if i get my phone stole that people can sell it overseas and it works perfectly but i heard from someone else, that now Australia has a world wide data base so now once the phone is black listed that it is black listed in all countries.. Is this true???

Lastly, even if the phone can be sent to another country and works fine wouldn't the network lock still be in effect no matter what country and if the country doesn't have that provide the phone is useless anyway.

Thank you for listening and i do apologize if they are stupid questions
