Hi!
I have a blackberry Storm that WAS on Verizon, and it has been inactive for about 4 months and I was wondering if its still possible to unlock it so I can use my ATT&T iphone sim card in it? (which is the carrier I am currently on)
Im so very confused about what to do, im not sure how the process works but if you can assist me through the things and the codes i need and such I would really apperciate it.
I paid a big amount for this phone a while back when it first came out, and I really dont want this phone to go to waste. If theres anyone out there that help me out, Id surely apperciate your assistence.
Thank you for your time and patience to read this message.
my IMEI code is: 352109.03.891140.3
if its needed.

Re: Confused Unlocking? What?
You can not unlock the Blackberry storm to use it on ATT, the phone is designed for a totally different carrier. ATT and Verizon do not play nice together, so in short no you can not use it on ATT. You probably want to try and sell it, because unless you go back to Verizon, or another carrier that will accept the phone, it will still be sitting.
P.S. I wouldn't post your IMEI in any forum in the future, its not a safe practice =)

Re: Confused Unlocking? What?
Is this true??
Then what is the point of unlocking?
I thought unlocking a phone meant that you can use it on any carrier?
Im sorry I dont know these things, Im just trying to get as much as I can out of the phone since its just sitting there.

Re: Confused Unlocking? What?
I will go a little further into it, since you asked
Verizon is a CDMA phone carrier, CDMA is the technology of their towers, phones, network, etc. Sprint is another CDMA type of carrier. Their phones don't use SIM cards, so their phones run off the IMEI number, and other numbers on the phone to be registered to the Network.
GSM is the other type of technology. T-Mobile and ATT use this technology, and they use SIM Cards. There are good and bad points to both technologies, and some say GSM is the wave of the future.
To your question specifically, ATT's network will not accept, use, or even recogonize a phone that is from a CDMA (Verizon) carrier, and vice-versa.
The point in unlocking phones is so you can use it on any carrier that use's the same technology (I.E. GSM or CDMA)
I use Wikipedia to learn about stuff like this, you can go there and type in GSM and CDMA and it will further explain it to you, this is just a basic overview of what I was trying to say before.
I hope this helps bud!

Re: Confused Unlocking? What?
Oh okay I get now at first I was like.. Whaatt why not? haha.
So even though the Storm DOES have a sim card, it still depends on the CDMA GSM stuff?
