    Re: Cingular device configurator

I went and opened my menu, but when I went to scroll there was no choice to select web access under java settings. It just is NOT there. I bought the phone off ebay and it came with Danish instructions. It works fine with my Cing service, but it does not have the selection. There was a selection under that for web access, but it did not have the choice of MediaNet at all. Just MMS or new entry. What to do?

    Re: Cingular device configurator

    Tony E,

I'm a newbie (obviously) and I am trying to configure an unlocked Motorola SLVR L7 phone that I purchased a while back and use with my Cingular SIM chip. I have been searching high and low on the both the Cingular website and the forums, and have found instructions, but they usually infer that I have certain options under certain menus available. I am guessing that I must upgrade the firmware somehow. I can receive text messages, calls, etc, but I cannot send text messages. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hitekthree, Welcome to CPF.

Let's try one thing first, call Cingular and make sure that you have "text messaging" enabled on your acccount, if after Cingular reprovisions your account for text messaging and you still cannot send messages we will go through your settings.

I'm 99.9% sure that along with having text messages on the customers account, that Cingular would also need to be told what the account holders IMEI number is, so that they could enter it in their system.

Correct, that's what reprovisioning the account involves.

    Re: Cingular device configurator

At&t tech support is awesome. when you call with an unlocked phone for medianet, multimedia (picture message) or text message settings, just make sure you have some free time. it takes just over half an hour to manually program them.

there is no guarantee that all unlocked phones will work with the system but they are more than happy to give it a try to help you as much as they possibly can.

oh, and motorolas are basic, but if you have another kind of phone, try to make sure you know where the browser settings are, so you can modify the existing ones if you need to.
