Re: Laptop or Desktop?
Very, very true. I spent very, very little on my notebook, and it performs MUCH better than I expected. It's an Inspiron 1300, 1.5 GHz, 512 MB RAM, etc etc, an entry level system.
Dell Inspiron 1300
But you know what, it was a good buy, and I'd buy it again in a flash. But you can also spend twice as much and get the best notebook out there, and it'll be just as fast as the top desktop you can buy.
The only thing I do agree on is that desktops can be clones and you can build them yourself, whereas notebooks, you HAVE to buy a brand name.

Re: Laptop or Desktop?
Seems we both have the same taste in "Gaming" notebooks... LOL
(Well, technically it's the mobile repo chart keeper, lol, but slakers tend to... well, slack lol )

Re: Laptop or Desktop?
I have both, don't use my desktop as much as the laptop. Sucks dragging all that stuff around, but I won't leave home without it.

Re: Laptop or Desktop?
I prefer Desktop
Desktops are optimal choices for usage of CAD applications, graphics-intensive gaming and for those who prefer to have the option of upgrading more easily. However, they are also perfectly fine for the basic computer user who just needs e-mail and Internet access. If portability is a big need of yours, then in that case laptop is the appropriate option. Except portablibitlity if we talk about price, repairing cost, processor size, full size keyboards, screen size, high-powered video cards that have higher power requirements and require better heat reduction/dissipation and upgradation factors then traditional-style machine(i.e. Desktop) is the best choice ever.

Re: Laptop or Desktop?
I say have both and you never have to worry about where you are! But then when I'm on vacation, the last thing I want to drag around with me is a laptop

Re: Laptop or Desktop?
For the price of a complete package set of the whole computer now, it is better to choose a laptop. Yes, and the compactness factor for someone is decisive.
