Earlier this year, BlackBerry (formerly known as RIM) has begun its quest for regaining market presence in the mobile scene. The company in question has released two brand new smartphones (those being the BB Z10 and Q10), as well as a brand new operating system that made its debut on these devices; the BB 10 OS.

Not long after the new BlackBerry line-up has hit the shelves, the Canadian smartphone manufacturer has released the BB 10.1 software update. But that's just the beginning of the story. As you may have already heard, BlackBerry is now planning on expanding its smartphone line-up, and not only that, but a new software update is also on its way.

BlackBerry 10.2 OS has been recently leaked, and this gave people the opportunity to take a closer look at the new package and form a pretty rich changelog that we all might benefit from once the official release hits the waves.

If you happen to own a BlackBerry device that got released this year, then chances are that BB 10.2 will be coming your way at one point in the future. Based on the information reveled in the aforementioned leak, the main chances and additions that are part of 10.2 include support for certain Android apps, improved system performance and app support, the addition of actionable notifications at the top of the display, as well as visual notifications on the lockscreen. Additionally, these notifications will be separate for each BBM group.

Furthermore, it appears that the new update will also include certain improvements in BlackBerry Hub, which will allow the user to determinate which messages get priority, based on a certain set of rules that he / she can select. Moving on, BlackBerry 10.2 will include a Task Manger that will give you vital information on which applications are using too much battery life or are slowing down the system. There's also going to be a new weather app, the clicking sound for keys will be changeable, and also, the system will give the option to set multiple alarms.

Furthermore, the browser will offer a reversible color mode (meaning that the background will be black and the text will be white), and the users will have the option of editing photos before sharing, or using them as wallpapers. Last but not least, BlackBerry 10.2 will offer support for NFC Smart Tags and Wi-Fi Direct.

I'm well aware that certain extra features included in BlackBerry 10.2 might not sound like a big deal for Android users, but for most BB enthusiasts, these features are really welcomed and highly anticipated. I should also note that the list of changes is not set in stone, and may expand further with the passage of time. Hopefully, BlackBerry will be able to roll-out this particular build sooner rather than later.
