As you may already be aware of, last week we've reported that the launch date of the HTC Evo 4G LTE has been put on hold
by the ITC for an unspecified period of time. The reason behind the delay was that the ITC had to make sure HTC successfully removed a feature that was allegedly infringing on a patent owned by Apple.
To summarize, Apple and HTC had a bit of a legal dispute last year, the results being that the Taiwanese manufacturer had to remove the patented feature allowing a user to tap a linked phone number in order to access a context menu. The deadline was April 19 and as it turns out, HTC did manage to successfully avoid any infringement by removing the context menu, and sending the user directly to the dialer when a linked phone number is tapped.
Fortunately, the ITC agreed that HTC has successfully dealt with the feature and gave green light for the HTC EVO 4G LTE
As for the new launch date, Sprint has not revealed an exact nation-wide release but the carrier expects to begin shipping the HTC EVO 4G
LTE to customers who pre-ordered the handset, sometime around May 24.
