The group over at Motorola have not yet given up. They have a new smartphone coming up they call the the "HD". It may also end up being called the "Droid Fighter". This would reflect their fight against the other manufacturers that are taking large bites out of the market share. The one thing that may be going for the Droid RAZR Fighter is its battery. It will supposedly allow the handset to last for a longer time than earlier Droids.

The screen for this broad Motorola smartphone is another massive event. It looks poised to be a challenger to the Samsung Galaxy Note. The Samsung model has five inches of digital real estate and the Droid Razr HD XT926 has 4.6 inches. That will be hard to tell the difference in sizes for the human eye. The display is super clear with 720 by 1280 pixels of power. That puts it into the clarity range of the HTC Rezound, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the LG Optimus LTE. It will be hard to tell the difference in clarity between this smartphone and the popular "retina screen" of the iPhone 4S. The display will of course have all the normal acrobatic features of high-end handsets such as the accelerometer and "pinch to zoom". The Razr HD has no manual keyboard, but the virtual keyboard is definitely big enough for easy use.

In fact, the Motorola DROID RAZR HD is going to be coming out with the Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android. This is the version that is supposed to do away with the problem fragmentation of the Google mobile operating system. The app developers are supposed to come running to make Android programs now that this problem is history. Otherwise, look for the Android platform to take a hit to the midsection if Apple continues with their "Content Configuration for Device Platforms". There seems to be no letup with the malware attacks on Android, so taking advantage of apps like "Lookout Labs" will continue to be a good idea.

The Motorola Droid RAZR HD, or "Motorola Fighter", will have the ability to send a high definition video signal to a monitor with its video out connector. There is no report yet on if the smartphone has DLNA abilities or not. All the other basic Wi-Fi modes are included and Bluetooth is in the fast 4.0 version. The last wireless feature is the FM Radio, which includes RDS.

The aforementioned battery is huge, like the screen. It is 3300 mAh of power. The estimated talk time is a wild 21 hours, but of course does not include those video viewers. Nevertheless, that is a lofty number for a smartphone. Smartphone power users will no doubt be attracted to the Motorola Fighter for this one feature. The DROID RAZR MAXX is using the same battery as the "Fighter" for those who were wondering. This large smartphone is headed to the Verizon "Big Red" network for an unofficial price of $300 dollars.
