Ever since Google has taken over Motorola, the smartphone manufacturer has done a pretty good job at keeping its customers informed regarding update schedules for a wide range of their smartphones. Additionally, the manufacturer has been able to push the long-awaited Ice Cream Sandwich on the
Droid Bionic and more recently the RAZR M has been updated to Android 4.1 as well. Nonetheless, the story doesn't end here.
Motorola has also announced that a wider range of older and newer smartphones will receive Jelly Bean, including the first generation RAZR, the Droid Bionic and the
Atrix HD, and judging by the latest happenings, the
Atrix HD might be the first from the bunch that will benefit from Android 4.1.
The reason behind this statement is because Atrix HD owners that are part of the Motorola Feedback Network have been recently informed about an upcoming soak test. No information has been given as to whether or not this is going to be a Jelly Bean test, but chances are that it will. Besides, the Atrix HD is a fairly new device and it already received an ICS update after its launch. It's time for Jelly Bean.
As to when exactly will the official over-the-air roll-out commence, judging by previous Motorola soak-tests, if the feedback from the testers will be positive then it shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks for the new firmware to hit the waves.
All in all, Android 4.1 should arrive on the Atrix HD by the end of the year.
