Cell Phone Reviews

As most (if not all) Motorola Atrix 2 owners out there already know by now, Motorola doesn't have any plans regarding Android 4.1 on the respective device. That's quite unfortunate, but the good news is that some time ago the manufacturer has started offering a $100 trade-in program for relatively newer smartphones that are not going to receive Jelly Bean. At least there's that, so if you happen to own the Atrix 2 and you'd like to experience Android 4.1, you could buy a new Droid RAZR HD at a discount.

Well, the truth is that there are always other ways to experience newer OS iterations on your smartphone, ahead of the official release. Custom ROMs such as CyanogenMod 10 are quite popular nowadays, and for good reason.

But speaking of ROMs, the story today is that an official Jelly Bean ROM for the Motorola Atrix 2 has recently leaked on XDA-Developers, and according to the users that gave this leak a try, the build seems quite stable. In other words, Motorola has started developing Android 4.1 on the Atrix 2 at one point, but later on the manufacturer has changed its mind and scrap everything, reaching the conclusion that Ice Cream Sandwich is good enough for the respective device. Why they've taken this decision remains unknown, but if you want to give this leaked official ROM a try, you can.

In order to do so, hit the source link below and there you'll find all the instructions and tools in order to flash Android 4.1 on your Atrix 2. However, keep in mind that although this is an official ROM, that doesn't mean it's perfect. After all, if it was ready for an OTA release, it would've been deployed by now. That being said, expect a few bugs if you decided to give this leaked build a try.

Also, I wouldn't advise you to download and install this ROM if you haven't done something similar before, or if you don't want to lose your warranty on the device.

Good luck!
