Today we've received great news for those of you who are still rocking the good old Motorola Droid Bionic. You may already be aware of the fact that last year, shortly after Ice Cream Sandwich has been deployed on the aforementioned smartphone, Motorola has confirmed that they're planning on launching Android 4.1 on the handset as well.

About a week ago I've also brought you news concerning the fact that the Motorola Support page has been updated, indicating that Jelly Bean should arrive sometime in the second quarter of the year. At that time, this meant April or even June.

However, the good news is that apparently, Android 4.1 might very well land on the Bionic sooner rather than later. How soon? Well, how does "within the next two-three weeks" sounds to you?

Pretty good I suppose, or at least much better than a June release. But, before we get all excited, let's take a look at what's actually going on.

Apparently Motorola has recently started sending out Jelly Bean soak-test invites to Droid Bionic owners that are also members of the Feedback Network. Usually, when Motorola sends out these types of soak-tests, it means that the update they're testing is pretty much complete, polished and ready for roll-out. It's basically the last testing phase and more often than not, everything goes according to plan.

Now, judging by past soak-tests, once the results are satisfying the official launch of the update usually happens roughly two weeks after the test invites have been sent to Motorola Feedback Network members. That being said, chances are that the Droid Bionic will receive its fair share of Jelly Bean within the next couple of weeks or so.

But, of course, there's no guarantee that this will happen. If Motorola finds nasty bugs or other "undesired features" then they'll get back to working on the update, thus its release will be delayed.

Hopefully that's not going to be the case and the newer OS will hit the Bionic soon. Keep your gadget close to you and watch that notification bar.
