Motorola has recently started sending out soak test invites for an upcoming software update to Verizon
Droid RAZR HD and RAZR HD MAXX owners that are also part of the Motorola Feedback Network. In case you're not familiar with the term "soak test", this generally means that a new update which has been in development has reached its final stages. Soak test participants are given this unreleased software update in order to test it thoroughly on their devices. Once this step is done, Motorola can iron out any flaws that may or may not have appeared during this final testing phase.
Usually, after soak test invites are sent out, it takes roughly two weeks for the final update to be ready and go live, assuming of course that no major issues have been found in the software.
Although the invitation emails do not specify what this soak test is all about, I can't help but wonder whether or not it has anything to do with Android 4.2.2. Nevertheless, there's also the possibility that this might be just a maintenance update to fix various existing bugs.
At this very moment there's no way to determine what software update is going to be soak tested, but once users and owners of the
Droid RAZR HD will start participating in the program, chances are that information will leak and we'll find out whether or not this really is Android 4.2.2.
Any thoughts on the matter? Do you own a
Motorola DROID RAZR HD or its MAXX sibling? Are you part of Motorola's Feedback Network, and have you received your own invitation via email? Feel free to leave a comment below and let the community know.
