Sony has been pretty busy lately, making all sorts of announcements. Not long ago, the Xperia Z Ultra has been unveiled, alongside the SmartWatch 2, and even more recently, the company reassured us that it will launch the Android 4.3 update on a handful of ongoing devices sometime in the future. Now, based on the leaks and rumors that have been flying around the web during the past few good weeks, Sony is also working on a cameraphone. It makes sense, since both Samsung and Nokia have already revealed and released their camera-centric devices (those being the Galaxy S4 zoom and the Lumia 1020 respectively).

Sony's contender is currently known as the Xperia i1 Honami, or a combination of those names. It's also known under the model number C6903, and interestingly enough, a gadget boasting the same model number has recently popped-up on the GFXBench website. In case you're wondering, GFXBench is a benchmark that deals mostly with testing the graphical capabilities of mobile devices.

On GFX it's been revealed or confirmed that the Honami does indeed arrive with a 1080p full HD display, and that it is also powered by a Snapdragon 800 SoC, coupled with an Adreno 330 graphics chip. Unfortunately, the device seems to be running on Android 4.2.2, and not on Android 4.3, but this may change during the development process and hopefully, the manufacturer will release the Honami with the latest version of Android out of the box.

Assuming that you're not too up to date with the Honami-related leak galore, other rumored hardware specs include a 5 inch display, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage expandable via microSD by up to an additional 64 GB, and of course a 20 MP main camera with 1/2.3" sensor size, LED flash, Image Stabilization, HDR and more. The gadget is also rumored to pack a secondary 2 MP sensor and a non-removable yet generous 3,000 mAh battery.

All in all, the launch of the Sony Honami seems to be getting closer and closer, and the device has even paid the FCC a visit not long ago. That being said, more information is bound to surface soon, perhaps even through official means.
