If anyone got there sidekick messed up because of the new OTA update please post here!!!!!

actually i bought my sidekick with the OTA and my sidekick works awsome, so far ive had it for exactly 13 days now and not ONE problem with it! I couldnt be happier.. what did the update do to your phone to mess it up?Unless you werent insinuating that it messed your phone up and ur just wondering if anyone elses phone messed up..

OTA stands for "Over the Air."

Periodically, the Sidekick II will recieve OTA updates. It is EXTREMELY important that when you choose to download the updates, you treat your Sidekick II as if it had the most contagious deadly disease in the world!

Ok, maybe not to that extent. The Sidekick II is wonderful, just make sure you don't touch it when updates are being installed.

When the Sidekick recieves the OTA updates, im assuming it will tell you BEFORE it begins to download and when it is COMPLETELY FINISHED, right?! I have heard a very FEW people, if that many, complain that they got the OTA update and now their sidekick is "messed up". Now that you tell me this, Richie, i am guessing it is because they somehow played around with their phone and caused the OTA update to incorrectly download or didnt successfully finish.. hmm, either way.. this could be the answer to their frustrations!

Its good to know this cause i was a bit frightened by the fact that this could happen to my sidekick. I know that OTA updates are VERY important cause they add fixes to bugs and glitches in the phone but hearing a couple of people say it messed their phone up, scared me. Now i have a better idea on WHY their phone is messed up.

It does give you a notice when it is ready to update. You can either choose Remin me later or download. Its not true that few people had problems with the OTA because a lot of people had problems with it. I go from forum to forum each day and I found that a lot of owners of the Sidekick II were experiencing problems and when they called up Customer Care that had to order a completely new device

Okay, either way.. little or alot, people still had problems. I dont think how many people had problems is the issue at hand, yet, how to solve the problem is the issue..
I do hope everyone who had problems with their OTA update, gets it fixed asap. I feel bad.. =(

I never hardly notice any problem as I did rec'd two new ota updates first one was OS and after install in abt 20 minute later I got second update as for radio firmware... til then I notice at during start up it freeze while I use scroller button real fast and it wouldnt move for few second and then I have plm with dialer phone after I press speakerphone button where stutter button where camera is... and after I pressed it froze forever so far it happened twice so I had to turn it off manually, well I hope NOT its just becuz of some glitches in new ota upgrades.. I'm sure next ota upgrade would fix little afterwards..

Im one of the lucky ones, i just purchased my sidekick on Jan 28th ( picked it up on the 29th ) and when i got it, my update was already installed. All i had to do was charge it and that was it! =) At least i THINK it was already installed, im assuming so because it didnt ask me to install anything when i first turned the phone on AND because i got it brand new from the store and im guessing they would of installed it for me

Is there any way to see when "ota" updates will be available or if you have already updated it. I am not sure how to check. Thanks all.

well im sure your phone automatically tells u. My sidekick came loaded with the OTA update but from what ive heard, it automatically goes to ur phone and u can select either, install and restart OR install later.

It does ask you to upgrade, with options, ask me 1 min later, cancel or accept, as first upgrade for hiptop os the latest version 2.3 and second update will ask you same question to proceed update radio firmware in about 20 min or so and the latest version is 0.4.1. You can check the current verison u're on under System Information. Its at Menu, Settings, System Info.... you're there.

i wonder when the next ota update will be, if any?! hmm..
