Found this site which i'm wading thro' right now for abbreviations.
    http://www.wisegeek.com/technology.htm#technology

My problem now is I got an unlocked phone , Kyocera 5135, and the guy gave me an SPC code which he says is "to program it". I'm still waiting on his reply, but have the phone, and wanted to know how to program it/where to enter info?
My plan was this. Using Http://WWW.1011295.ca as a prefix I can get $.04 minute cell rates, which go on my bell bill. No sim card nada. (phone don't take it anyway). Am I missing something here or do I need a carrier , and pay monthly rates? If so I screwed up royally. I just want to pay as I go.

    Thanks

If I'm understanding you correctly, the answer is no. Your post is a little confusing , and I had to split it from an unrelated thread in the Newbie section of our site; please make sure any future questions are in the appropriate forum and clearly stated.

Your phone has to have a SIM and service provider to be active at all, and if you tried to use that 10-10 prefix and it actually worked, you'd be using minutes in your plan plus getting billed an extra 4c/min. I don't think you can dial those 10-10 prefixes from your cell phone, but if you can, the only way it's going to save you money is international calling and only if their rate is cheaper than your service provider.

As far as your other question, was it about unlocking your phone? Geez I hope I titled your thread correctly, I had a hard time figuring out what your question was really all about. Am I having a blonde-day or what? Sorry I can't help with phone unlocking, the person you got the phone from should be responsible for that. I just know you can't use a phone without a provider or a SIM, and I wouldn't bother trying to use a 10-10 number on a cell.

OOPS haha I just figured out the first part of your last post was a reply to what you had said previously about abbreviations in my thread. You really threw me for a loop with all the other questions! That's why hijacking threads is a bad idea (that's when you post a new question in a thread that has nothing to do with the original thread). I think that was a pretty good link, why don't you re-post it in New Member Help, but make a new thread out of it and just keep it short and simple.

The 5135 doesn't use SIMs, it is CDMA. And as Brad said, you will need a service provider to use it.
