Hi guys.

I'll be making a trip to South Korea in a few days and would like to buy a cell phone while I'm there. I've heard the hype that they have some great phones that we don't usually get in the U.S.

I was just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction and show me some nice phones I can buy there. Of course, they need to transferrable to service providers in the U.S.. Thanks in advance for your help!

One of the main obstacles you have to look at when buying an overseas phone is the network it is on (gsm, cdma, wcdma, etc). As far as I can remember South Korea was primarily cdma, which leaves you to Verizon/Sprint... Yet another factor is the frequency AND whether you can transfer the phone to one of those networks... I haven't used cdma in a while, but if its anything like in the past, you would have a very hard time using a cdma korean phone here..
GSM (tmo, cingular*depending where you live 850 band could be lacking in the phone*, and some other small providers) use SIM cards and could be easily used.. though I don't remember South Korea having that many gsm phones...
Research first, shop later.. Don't want to go all that way to buy something you can't use. One of your first priorities would be mentioning what network you'd like to use it on, and then start looking for what's available!
