hello, i'm about to ebay a cellphone but i keep reading "unlocked" and "phones without contracts". sooo my question is if i canceled my phone service, then it is "unlocked"?

i was under nextel with the phone, but i canceled and got a new phone since... i just want to make sure when i ebay it the buyer is going to receive something they can use.e

Unlocked cellphone could be used with any provider. If it's said that it's a phone Nextel phone w/o contract, this means you could only use it with other Nextel service contract

Nextel is iden technology, there for it should work with Boost (iden technology),Tellus (iden technology)South America Nextel (iden technology).
An unlocked GSM phone can be used with other GSM carriers, cingular,T-mobile,at%t, mexicos telcel, and more..
a CDMA unlocked phone can be used with other CDMA carriers, Sprint,Verizon,Cricket,Alltel,and other cdma prepaid phones.
