I am in need of a phone and provider, however I do not know what to get. My mom is making me pay for my own phone, so something that is 70$ a month is out of the question. I was looking to spend somewhere around 40$-50$ a month.
The best thing to go with seemed Metro PCS, but the price of the phones are ridiculous. I dont want to spend 150+ on a ****ty phone. With other service providers, phone are a lot cheaper...but the plans are more expensive.
So basically my question is..could I get a cheaper Metro PCS phone somehow, Or a different phone and get Metro PCS phone service on it? Or are there any other providers that are cheap?
All I really want is talking time and texting...no internet or anything like that.
Thanks in advance,
Moral
P.S. Im from Michigan if that helps anyone (Detroit area)

Re: Help!!!!!!!!please
You might wanna look into pre paid or something like Boost Mobile. Dont know if they have coverage or offer the same unlimited plans there. And no, you cannot use a phone that was not purchased from Metro on their network. Its useless, i tried couple of years ago when i had them.
Now, you obviously get texting and talk time at a low cost if you do contract with T-mobile. You can do a 5 favorites with nights and weekends and add an unlimited txt package wich will still come out at around $50 total. But if you cant sign a contract then go pre paid with Virgin, Boost or T-mobile. THose are your best options if you do not wish to purchase an expensive metrophone.
I love my cellys

Blackjack II or the Dash from T-Mobile... here's why...
They are Smart Phones. They're FREE. PLUS, T-Mobile gives a $50 mail-in-rebate for subscribers of either of those two phones (should cover most of your activation fee plus shipping). Here are the plans that show up for me when I type in my area code to those phones...
Blackjack II - $39.99/month - 450 minutes - with rollover + 5000 nights and weekend minutes.
T-Mobile Dash - $39.99/month for 600 minutes + unlimited nights and weekend minutes.
It should be minimal out-of-pocket expenses (activation+shipping) which ever phone you go with since both are free. Again though, the $50 mail-in-rebate would make up for most of your initial expense from getting the new phone. Lastly, even though you only have 450/600 minutes, you can add the 5 people you call the most that's NOT with T-Mobile to your my Fav 5 and you can call them for FREE. Check it out here....
1) Connect, copy, then paste this to your address bar:
cellstores. com/mobile/?referringdomain=lightyearcom&eid=572767
2) Click on T-Mobile in the Phones by Carrier menu.
3) The Blackjack II is the very first phone you'll see. Scroll down to find the Dash.
I think that should take care of what you're looking for! : ) Message me if you have any questions. ttyl!

Re: Need a new phone & plan!
Page Plus Cellular might fit your needs. For $50 you can get 500 minutes and 300 text messages. Page Plus' rates are very reasonable. It costs 12 cents per minute and 8 cents per text message, but is actually lower with "funny money" (bonus money). I hope I was able to help.
