I believe to switch providers on a phone, even one without active service, you have to get it unlocked with the previous service provider. In this case you would have to call Verizon to see if it is possible to unlock the phone to use on another provider.

You would have to also check with TracPhone to make sure that that particular phone is compatible with their service I think. It would definitely need to be unlocked first with Verizon though.

Tracfone will not allow you to use another carrier's phone at this time.

With Straight Talk and Net10 you can bring your own phone and the cost is $45 per month for Straight Talk and $50 per month for Net10. The phone must be an AT&T or T-Mobile phone or must be unlocked.
