I have been with Verizon my whole "cell phone"life, but my bill is pretty high. I just wanted to send out a feeler to know if anyone knows which of the Major cell phone carriers is the cheapest, or if anyone had an alternative carrier that they recommend.

Verizon and AT&T are both right in line price-wise. If you're looking to save some money, I would suggest Metro PCS, Straight Talk from Wal-Mart, or maybe T-Mobile. Metro PCS may not be an option for you, depending on where you're located and/or where you need cell phone coverage, but Straight Talk uses Verizon's (and Sprint's?) cell phone towers, so coverage shouldn't be a problem through them.

I'm with Farrah. If you can do Metro PCS, Straight Talk, or T-Mobile, they're the only cell phone carriers that I know of with truly unlimited plans. I'm not sure about T-Mobile, but I know with Metro PCS and Straight Talk, you don't have to sign a contract.

Sprint has a plan for $110 a month that includes unlimited talk, text and data. Verizon, on the other hand, charges $110 dollars a month for unlimited talk and text, with a 4 GB limit on data. Lastly, for unlimited talk and text with AT&T, you'll pay $90 dollars a month, plus another $30 dollars for 3 GB data, for a total of $120/month.

I would say Sprint is the best deal of the major carriers.

With one of the major carriers, it would probably be Sprint or T-Mobile.

If you want to stick with Verizon's coverage area, and are willing to go with a smaller provider that uses their network, Page Plus might be a good option.
