Have you ever wondered why that little moisture sticker under the battery cover turned pink? It's possible this happened because of steam or extreme humidity. Steam from a shower would be more likely though. Luckily most insurance covers water damage, but they didn't used to, which is why this little sticker exists.
Can steam from a shower actually damage your phone? Sure - it's still water and your phone is electronic. If enough water vapor collects on your phone and turns back into water it could cause a short. Is it likely? Probably not - unless you take very long showers without any type of ventilation. Furthermore, the water has to actually make its way into the phone. Phones don't have as many openings as they used to, especially touch screen only phones.
If your phone does get water in it via shower steam there is an up side. After things dry they are less likely to cause damage if they haven't already. Here's why: There are much less contaminants in the air. Steam is much more pure than shower water. Contaminants from water could be left on the phones circuit board, causing shorts and buttons to not work at all.

Re: Can shower steam damage a cell phone?
Thanks for posting this admin! It's really a helpful information because some of us may not know it. I don't really take my phone to the shower but sometimes I like listening to music when I'm taking a nice warm bath. I sure will keep this in mind

Re: Can shower steam damage a cell phone?
I wouldn't leave my phone in the bathroom when I shower. It's good to a break from your phone every once in a while.

Re: Can shower steam damage a cell phone?
I had a phone that broke and I took it in to Verizon for a warranty exchange. They told me it had water damage so my warranty was void. I couldn't figure out how it would get water damage and the rep said even sweat can do it!

Re: Can shower steam damage a cell phone?
Bathroom is not a place for cellphones, you might drop it in the toilet or get wet. Those are expensive, not worth the risk.
