Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap the apps drawer on the home screen
  2. Access “Settings
  3. Swipe to “Device” and tap “Battery
  4. Tap “Menu” > “Battery saver

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can set your account to sync less data, thus prolonging your phone’s battery life.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Tap “Settings
  3. Swipe to “Personal” and tap “Accounts
  4. Select an account type and clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable

Adjust the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Swipe to “Device” and tap “Display
  3. Tap “Brightness level” and lower the brightness to preserve energy. NOTE:Adaptive brightness” needs to be disabled in order to manually change the screen’s luminosity
  4. To choose a lower timeout value, tap “Sleep” in the “Display” menu

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Some of your third party applications can affect your phone’s battery performance even if you don’t use them. This is because certain applications can run processes in the background. You can improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party apps.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps
  4. Access the “Downloaded” screen and select the desired application
  5. Tap “Force stop” to disable it, or tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to completely remove it

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:

NOTE: Your phone’s connectivity features (GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) can drain a lot of battery, so you should keep these features disabled whenever they are not in use. To disable them:

  1. On the home screen, drag the “Notification” bar down
  2. Tap the tiles associated with “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi” and “Location” to disable these features
  3. You can change the way GPS works by accessing “Settings” > “Location” > “Mode” > “Battery saving
  4. To disable hotspot: go to “Settings
  5. Tap “Wireless & Network” > “More
  6. Tap “Tethering & mobile hotspot” and disable “Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot

Use 4G instead of 2G:

  1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” screen
  2. Under “Wireless & networks”, tap “More
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “preferred network type
  4. Select “2G” to switch from, and disable 4G
