Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Battery” under “Device”
  3. Tap “Menu” > “Battery saver”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: If you set your accounts to sync less data you can improve your phone’s battery life on the long run. To do this:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Swipe to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select the desired account type
  5. Select an account and clear / mark the check boxes associated with the sync settings you want to disable or enable

Minimize the Use of 3rd Party Apps:

NOTE: Some third party apps can affect your phone’s battery life even when they are not used. This is because some apps can still perform background processes. To prolong battery life you can disable or uninstall rarely, or never-used third party apps. To do so:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Under “Device”, tap “Apps”
  4. Scroll to the “Downloaded” screen
  5. Select the desired app
  6. Tap “Force stop” to disable it
  7. To remove an app, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:

NOTE: To increase your phone’s battery life on the long run, you can disable the connectivity options whenever they are not in use. This includes Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and Hotspot.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down
  2. Tap the tiles associated with “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi” and “Location"
  3. To change the way GPS (location) works, access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  4. Go to “Location” > “Mode” > “Battery saving”
  5. To disable Hotspot, go to the “Settings” screen
  6. Under “Wireless & networks”, tap “More”
  7. Tap “Tethering & mobile hotspot” and disable “Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot”

Switch from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Under “Wireless & networks” tap “More”
  3. Tap “Mobile Networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Tap “2G” to disable 4G connectivity

Adjust the Screen Brightness & Timeout Duration:

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Swipe to “Device” and tap “Display”
  3. Tap “Brightness level” to lower the screen brightness. (NOTE: To manually set the screen brightness you need to disable “Adaptive brightness” first)
  4. From the “Display” menu, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds”
