Turn Battery Saving Mode On:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Access Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Tap Battery saver and enable the feature
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Access the phones Settings menu
- Swipe to Device and tap Display
- Tap Brightness level and if necessary, disable Adaptive brightness
- Drag the brightness slider to the left
- Go back to the Display menu and tap Sleep
- Select a lower value for the screen timeout, such as 15 seconds
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:
NOTE: You can improve your phones battery performance in the long run if you disable the connectivity options whenever they are not in use. This includes Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth.
- Drag the status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Location tiles to disable these features
- Go to the phones Settings menu
- Tap Location > Mode and select Battery saving to change how GPS works
- Tap Back to return to Settings
- Tap Wireless & networks
- Tap Mode > Tethering & mobile hotspot
- Disable the Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot feature
Switch from 4G to 2G:
- Go to Settings
- Swipe to Wireless & networks and tap More
- Tap mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change the Sync Settings:
NOTE: If you set your phone / accounts to sync less data or less often, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Tap Settings
- Swipe to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select an account type
- To minimize sync, clear some of the check boxes associated with the available sync settings
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Some third party applications can affect your phones battery life even if you dont use them assuming that these applications perform regular processes in the background. As such you might be able to improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party apps.
- Access Settings
- Swipe to Device
- Tap Apps and swipe to Downloads
- Select the desired application
- Tap Force Stop / Disable to turn the app off
- Alternatively, tap Uninstall > OK to completely remove the app
