Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Swipe to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Tap Battery saver and enable the mode
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Access the Settings menu
- Swipe to Device and tap Display
- Tap Brightness level
- If necessary, disable Adaptive brightness
- Drag the brightness slider to the left
- Access Display and tap Sleep
- Select a lower screen timeout value, like 15 seconds
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: When you set your accounts to sync less data, you can prolong your phones battery life on the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Under Personal, tap Accounts
- Select an account type
- Scroll through the list and disable the desired sync options by clearing the check boxes
Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:
NOTE: Certain third party apps can drain your battery even when you dont use them assuming that these apps run regular processes in the background. Thus you can improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party apps.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Tap Apps and go to Downloads
- Select the desired app
- Tap Force stop / Disable
- Alternatively, tap Uninstall > OK to remove the application from the phone
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when they are not in use, you can gain some battery life at the end of your day. Heres how you can quickly disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth.
- Swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location, and Bluetooth tiles to disable these features
- Access the Settings menu
- Go to Location > Mode
- Select Battery saving and return to the Settings menu
- Tap Wireless & networks > Mode > Tethering & mobile hotspot
- Disable Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot
Use 4G instead of 2G:
- Access Settings
- Under Wireless & networks, tap More
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
