Back Up Settings:

  1. Swipe left on the Start screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Tap “backup” > “app list + settings”
  4. Enable “Settings backup”
  5. If necessary, sign in to your Microsoft account
  6. Tap “Back up now” > “continue” (NOTE: The backup process can take several minutes to complete)

Back Up Applications:

  1. Swipe left on the Start screen and access “Settings”
  2. Tap “backup” > “App list + settings”
  3. Enable “App Backup”
  4. Sign in to your Microsoft account if necessary
  5. Tap “back up now” > “continue”

Back Up Text Messages:

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “backup” > “text messages”
  3. Tap the “Text message backup” switch to enable

Back Up Photos & Videos:

  1. Swipe the Start screen left
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Swipe to and tap “backup”
  4. Go to “photos + videos”
  5. Select to upload media files to OneDrive automatically:
    • For Photos you can select:
      • Don’t upload
      • Good quality (may use data plan)
      • Best quality (needs Wi-Fi)
    • For Videos you can choose:
      • Don’t upload
      • Best quality (needs Wi-Fi)

Restore Data:

  1. To restore data after resetting your phone, first connect to a Wi-Fi network
  2. Follow the on-screen steps to continue the setup
  3. On the “Restore phone” screen, make sure “Windows Phone” is enabled and tap “Next”
  4. Wait for the phone to restore the data (can take several minutes)
  5. Once the data is restored 100%, tap “Next”
  6. In the “Almost done…” screen, tap “Next” to complete the process
