Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Tap Battery under Device
- Tap menu > Battery saver and enable the feature
Change GPS Settings to Battery Saving:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Tap Location under Personal
- Tap Mode and select Battery saving
Disable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling your phones connectivity features when not in use, including Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth.
- From the home screen, drag the notification bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location tiles
- Make sure the aforementioned times are removed of color. This signifies the features are disabled
Switch from 4G to 2G:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Wireless & networks
- Tap More > Cellular networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Select 2G or 3G
- To re-enable 4G, select LTE
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Go to the Settings menu
- Under Device, tap Display
- If necessary, disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Brightness level and drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Return to Display and tap Sleep
- Select a lower timeout value, such as 15 seconds
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By setting your phone / accounts / apps to sync less data, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the Settings menu
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select an account
- Tap Sync and disable the desired sync options
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain third party apps can affect your phones battery performance even when you dont use them assuming that they run background tasks / processes regularly. As such, you could improve battery life in the long run by disabling or removing unused third party apps.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Tap Apps under Device
- Go to Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Disable
- Optionally tap Uninstall > OK to remove the app completely
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, so its recommended to keep your phones OS up to date. To check for updates:
- Open the apps drawer
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- In case an update is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply it
