Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Turn on “Battery saver”

Turn Off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use (such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Hotspot and GPS), you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the tiles associated with “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi” and “Location” to turn off these features
  3. Access “Settings” and tap “Location” for more GPS settings
  4. Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
  5. To disable Hotspot, first go back to “Settings”
  6. Then, tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks” and turn off “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot”

Switch from 4G to 2G:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Select “2G”

Decrease Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Display” under “Device”
  3. Turn off “Adaptive brightness” if necessary
  4. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the slider towards the left
  5. Go back to “Display” and tap “Sleep”
  6. Select a lower value, such as “15 seconds”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By setting your accounts to sync less data / less often, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  3. Select the desired account type
  4. Disable the desired sync options for the selected account

Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes, so even if you don’t use them, they can still affect battery performance in the long run. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might be able to increase battery life.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “Apps” under “Device”
  3. Go to “Downloaded” and select the desired third party app
  4. Tap “Disable” / “Force stop” to turn the application off
  5. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
