Turn On Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the phones Settings menu
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Turn on Battery saver
Turn Off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when they are not in use (such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Hotspot and GPS), you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the tiles associated with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Location to turn off these features
- Access Settings and tap Location for more GPS settings
- Tap Mode and select Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, first go back to Settings
- Then, tap More under Wireless & Networks and turn off Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
Switch from 4G to 2G:
- Go to Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Select 2G
Decrease Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Access the phones Settings menu
- Tap Display under Device
- Turn off Adaptive brightness if necessary
- Tap Brightness level and drag the slider towards the left
- Go back to Display and tap Sleep
- Select a lower value, such as 15 seconds
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By setting your accounts to sync less data / less often, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the Settings menu
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select the desired account type
- Disable the desired sync options for the selected account
Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:
NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes, so even if you dont use them, they can still affect battery performance in the long run. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might be able to increase battery life.
- Open Settings
- Tap Apps under Device
- Go to Downloaded and select the desired third party app
- Tap Disable / Force stop to turn the application off
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall > OK
