Change Display Settings:
- Tap Settings on the Start screen
- Tap System
- Go to Display and enable or disable Automatically adjust display brightness
- Additionally, you can turn Rotation lock On or Off
- Under Rotation lock, you can also drag the slider to decrease or increase font size
- After customizing the display settings, tap Apply to save the changes
- You can adjust Glance Screen (lock screen) settings by heading down to Settings > Extras > Glance Screen
Change Date & Time Settings:
- Open the Settings menu
- Tap Time & Language > Date & Time
- In order to set the time and date manually, both 24-hour clock and "set date and time automatically need to be turned off
- Tap the Date field, edit the date and tap Check
- You can also tap the Time field to adjust Minute, Hour, Meridian etc. Then, tap Check to confirm
Set an Alarm:
- Swipe the Start screen left to access App list
- Tap Alarms & Clock
- Tap +" at the bottom of the screen to create a new alarm
- Adjust the alarms ringtone, time, and snooze timer
- Tap Save when ready
NOTE: From the Alarms & Clock screen, you can also switch tabs to Stopwatch, World Clock, Timer
Tips to Improve Battery Life
Turn On Battery Saving Mode:
- On the Start screen, tap the Settings tile
- Access System and tap Battery saver
- Tap the Battery saver switch and set it to On
- For additional options, tap battery saver settings
Decrease Timeout Duration:
- Open the Settings menu
- Tap Personalization > Lock screen
- Tap Screen time out after field
- Select a lower value
NOTE: You can also improve battery life by decreasing the screen brightness, as described above.
Turn Off Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- On the Start screen, drag the Notification bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth tiles to turn off the features
- Return to the Start screen and access Settings
- Tap Privacy > Location and disable GPS
Turn Off App Auto-Update from Store:
- On the Start screen, tap Store
- Tap Menu > Settings
- Tap the switch to turn off Update apps automatically when Im not on Wi-Fi
