Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Tap Battery under Device
- Tap Menu and turn on Battery saver
Adjust Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open the Settings menu
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- If necessary, turn off Adaptive brightness
- Tap Brightness level and drag the slider to the left to decrease screen luminosity
- Return to the Display menu
- Tap Sleep and select a lower value, such as 15 seconds
Disable Connectivity When Not in Use:
NOTE: By turning off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS when not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run. To do this:
- First, while viewing the home screen swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Location tiles to disable these features
- Go to the phones Settings menu
- For additional GPS options, tap Location > Mode and select Battery saving
- To turn off Hotspot, return to the Settings menu
- Then, under Wireless & Networks tap More
- Tap the switch to disable Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
Use 2G Connectivity:
NOTE: If you dont have access to a battery bank / wall socket and youre running low on battery, you can prolong battery life by using 2G connectivity instead. To switch to 2G:
- Open the Settings menu
- Under Wireless & Networks, tap more
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Select 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party applications can affect your phones battery life even if you dont actively use them on account that some apps perform regular background processes. Thus, by turning off, or by uninstalling unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to the Settings menu
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Access the Downloaded tab
- Select the desired application
- Tap Disable / Force stop to turn off the app
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall > OK
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can gain battery life by changing your sync settings to sync less data. To do this:
- Access Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select the desired account type
- Select your account and disable the desired sync options
