Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Access Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu > Battery saver
- Tap the switch to enable battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Access the Settings menu
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Tap Brightness level and turn off Adaptive brightness if necessary
- Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease luminosity
- Go back to Display
- Tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value, such as 15 seconds
Turn Off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot and GPS:
NOTE: By turning off your phones connectivity features when not in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth tiles to turn off these features
- Access the phones Settings menu
- Tap Location > Mode
- Select Battery saving
- Go back to Settings and tap Wireless & networks
- Tap Mode > Tethering & mobile hotspot
- Tap the switch to disable Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot
Switch to 2G Connectivity:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have access to a wall socket, you can temporarily switch to 2G connectivity to increase battery life. To do this:
- Access the phones Settings menu
- Tap More under Wireless & networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Select 2G connectivity
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your accounts to sync less data automatically, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Access the phones Settings menu
- Go to Accounts
- Select the desired account type
- Select the desired account, and uncheck the boxes associated with the sync options you want to turn off
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some of the third party apps on your phone can affect your phones battery life even when you dont use them, because certain apps can still perform regular background processes. Thus, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Tap Apps and access Downloads
- Select the desired application
- Tap Disable / Force Stop to turn off the app
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall > OK
