Turn On Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Connectivity Features When Unused:
NOTE: By disabling Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS when not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Location, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth tiles to disable these features
- Open the Settings menu and tap Location for more GPS options
- Tap Mode and select Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, go back to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap the switch to disable Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
Temporarily Switch to 2G Connectivity:
NOTE: If you dont have quick access to a battery pack or wall socket and your device runs out of battery, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G connectivity. To do this:
- Go to Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile Networks > Preferred network type
- Select 2G
Decrease Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- If necessary, turn off Adaptive brightness
- Tap Brightness level and drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease luminosity
- Go back to Display and tap Sleep
- Select a lower value, such as 15 seconds
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party apps on your phone can affect battery life even when they are not in use. This is due to the fact that some apps perform regular background processes. As such, you might be able to improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party apps.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps
- Go to Downloaded and select the desired application
- Tap Force stop or Disable to turn the app off
- To remove the app from the phone, tap uninstall > OK
Change Sync Settings For Your Apps / Accounts:
NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your apps / accounts to sync less data throughout the day, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select the desired account type and clear the check boxes next to the sync options you want to disable
- Tap Menu > Sync Now
Keep The OS Up To Date:
NOTE: Some software updates can include battery life improvements, and thus its recommended to keep your phone up to date at all times. To do this:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to System and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- If a new update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it. NOTE: This process may require a reboot
